Meeting Report for August, 2103

BLACKSMITHS OF ARKANSAS
August, 2013

Thanks to Rob and Jean Meuser for hosting the meeting which was at Mountain Home.  They have a nice place for a blacksmith meeting, and the weather was mostly dry.  They served us lunch which we enjoyed.

We had a couple of guests who seemed to enjoy the meeting, as well. They were   Ethan Horton and Vincent Willis.  We acquired a couple of new members from Harrison.  Welcome Andy and Andrew Coble.

Dale Custer again made the long drive.  Joe Doster asked him to speak, which he did.  He told us about our new website which should be up and running soon.

There was a short discussion about lettering our trailer to identify us as it travels around, with a couple of suggestions by Rob Meuser.

We are happy to announce the birth of a son to our vice president Justin Jones and his wife, Ashlee.  Young Lincoln Isaac probably doesn’t realize yet what a couple of nice parents he has chosen.  Congratulations to the three of you!

We had an impromptu knife show which I don’t think we have done before.  There were about half a dozen sharp objects on the lunch table before me. I liked that.

There is still talk about having a hammer making class.  There were a couple of names mentioned as teachers.

I’m sorry I don’t have times and locations for coming meetings.  Mike said to just look on the first page inside the newsletter.

NEA BOA July Meeting Minutes

Our next meeting will be on the the 17th of August at Glenn Owen’s shop starting at 7 and going till 4. The trade item will be a bottle opener. The meeting on the 20th of July we had 7 present, 4 members and 3 guests. The weather cooperated and was very nice out with a nice cool breeze. The 3 guests started learning the basics of blacksmithing and did very well. The NEA chapter is progressing with learning the in and outs of blacksmithing, and I want to thank the members for taking the time to learn, progress and share with each other there experience.
